Mount Edziza Prov. Park August 2021

Secluded in the Tahltan Highlands, in the remote northwest corner of British Columbia, is this spectacular volcanic domain. A formation of lava beds, basalt plateaus, cinder cones and shield volcanoes, and a landscape marred by glaciation - truly, a land of fire and ice. We were dropped off high in a treeless alpine environment, on the hottest day of our trip. You quickly learn the weather is very changeable here: On perfectly fine days, low cloud banks would drag in, enveloping this pyroclastic land with a moody mist and a threatening sky; and on the worst of times, we were subjected to days of heavy rain and wind.

This was a nine day backpacking adventure and a chance to exercise the shutter on the little Sony ⍺6000. I came equipped with 3 batteries, a 32GB SDHC card, and the 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 stock lens. My last shots were flying out over the Grand Canyon of the Stikine. I was on the last gasps of my last battery, but it was a full 32GB card, with 1217 images, that halted me. These 120-odd photos are derived from that.
